Description

My wife took this picture of the eclipse with her iPhone. The sun was overexposed (couldn't be helped) but the smaller, reflected image clearly shows the crescent.

As I look at this picture, with the cloud formation at 3 o’clock looking like a vapor trail, I can’t help but think that this is what the dinosaur killing asteroid might have looked like upon colliding with Earth were it viewed from a near orbiting satellite. One difference being that in this picture it strikes Rhode Island and not the Yucatan Peninsula. (There is Long Island at 9 o’clock.)
